A good children’s bed isn’t just about sleep. It’s about your child’s whole day — and about making your life as a parent a little easier. Here, we guide you through our most popular beds and what they actually offer you and your child in everyday life.

Have you ever watched your child climb into their bed in the middle of the afternoon to play, read or just hang out? It’s no coincidence. A bed that feels safe and inviting during the day is also the bed your child will happily climb into at night. And that turns bedtime into something quite different from a battle.

At LIFETIME Kidsrooms, we manufacture our children’s beds in Denmark from solid, knot-free pine. These are beds that last — not just a few years, but throughout childhood and often even longer. We have families who have had their LIFETIME bed for over 30 years and are passing it on to the next generation. That is what we mean when we say we make beds for life.

But let’s start at the beginning.

Montessori floor bed — freedom from day one

Many parents come across the Montessori approach when they’re looking for a bed for their little one who’s outgrown their cot. And this is where our Montessori children's bed really comes into its own.

The bed sits low to the floor. This means your child can climb in and out on their own — without your help. It might sound like a small thing, but it’s actually quite significant. Your child learns to take responsibility for their own sleep routine, and there are no sharp edges or drops to worry about. In the afternoon, the bed naturally becomes a play area, a reading nook or a cosy spot with their favourite teddy.

The Montessori bed is suitable from around the age of 2 and can later be converted into a platform bed that lasts all the way through to the teenage years — and indeed for adults too. So yes, you buy a bed just once.

Bunk bed — the smart solution for siblings (and when space is tight)

Siblings sharing a room is a classic logistical challenge. Our bunk beds solve it elegantly: two sleeping spaces in the same area, yet each child has their own space.

But a bunk bed is more than just two beds stacked on top of each other. The top bunk quickly becomes the child’s private space — a place to hang out with a book or a friend, away from the curious hands of younger siblings. And for the child sleeping on the bottom, the bed’s design can be transformed into a cosy den with a play curtain using the right accessories.

Our bunk beds, made from solid, Danish-produced pine, can also be separated into two single beds if the family’s needs change. A one-time investment — flexibility for life.

Mid sleeper bed — the perfect compromise

Not quite ready for a full-height loft bed, but your child needs more than a low bed? Then mid sleeper beds are the obvious choice.

The mid sleeper bed frees up floor space for play, storage or a cosy nook — without climbing becoming a big hassle. Your child can climb up independently, and underneath the bed there’s space for, say, a fold-out mattress for sleepover friends, a small bookcase or simply a blanket and some cushions to create the world’s best den.

It is a bed that is well-suited from school age onwards and can be combined with a desk and storage as needs change.

High sleeper bed and loft beds — making the most of the space

When your child is ready — usually between the ages of 6 and 8 — a loft bed or a high sleeper bed is a fantastic investment. The bed lifts right up, and the space underneath can be used for everything from a desk to a wardrobe to a cosy nook with fairy lights and a beanbag.

For teenagers who need their own space in a small room, it’s practically indispensable. A LIFETIME loft bed can be combined with a desk top, shelving system and various accessories, so you can adapt the layout to suit your child — not the other way round.

All our loft beds are TÜV-certified and comply with EU safety standards, and we recommend them for children aged 6 and over.

Canopy bed — the bed of your dreams

Some children (and parents) have a soft spot for things with a touch of magic. Our canopy bed is a single bed with a canopy frame, allowing you to choose the fabric and style that suit your child’s personality.

What makes the canopy bed special is that it creates a space within a space. A place that invites calm, daydreaming and cosiness — and which makes it natural for the child to seek out the bed, even when it’s not bedtime. For many families, this is precisely what helps wind down in the evening: the child seeks out the peaceful atmosphere themselves.

The bed is available in 120x200 cm and is built to last for many years to come.

That’s why our beds last — literally

We manufacture our beds in the small town of Sønder Sejerslev in south-west Jutland. This isn’t just a nice fact — it has a tangible impact on quality. We use solid, knot-free pine, treated with water-based, eco-friendly varnish. No shortcuts. No compromises on materials.

That’s also why we offer up to a 15-year guarantee with our extended warranty programme — and why we actually meet families who’ve had their LIFETIME bed for a lifetime.

A bed from us isn’t an expense you’ll have to repeat in three or five years. It’s an investment you make just once.

FAQ on children's beds

When should my child move from a cot to a proper bed?

Most children are ready to move on when they are 2–3 years old — either because they are climbing out of their cot, or simply because they have outgrown it. Our Montessori floor bed is a natural first step, as it is low to the ground and safe for little ones.

When can my child sleep in a bunk bed or a loft bed?

We recommend bunk beds and loft beds for children aged 6 and over. Younger children may find it difficult to use the ladders safely, and there is an increased risk of falling. Mid-height beds can be a good alternative for slightly younger children.

Can you make beds that will last for many years?

Yes — that’s actually our core expertise. We use solid pine and Danish craftsmanship, and we have families who have had the same LIFETIME beds for over 30 years. Many of our beds can also be adapted as the child grows.

What is a Montessori bed, and is it right for my child?

A Montessori bed is a low floor bed that allows children to get in and out independently. It is inspired by the Montessori educational philosophy’s emphasis on independence and self-directed learning. It is well suited to children aged 2 and above and is particularly good for children who find it difficult to settle down — because the bed is also a lovely place to spend time during the day.

Can I combine the beds with extra storage and accessories?

Yes. Almost all our beds can be combined with under-bed storage, shelves, a desk, a play curtain, a canopy and much more. This allows you to adapt the bed as your child’s needs change.
