LIFETIME Kidsrooms Q & A

Where is LIFETIME Kidsrooms furniture produced?

LIFETIME Kidsrooms A/S is based in Denmark. Specifically, the office and factory are located in the town of Sønder Sejerslev near Højer in south-west Denmark. All our furniture is produced in our Danish factory. Accessories and smaller products are produced - in close co-operation with LIFETIME Kidsrooms - by our Danish subcontractors. Textiles, lamps, chairs, etc. are purchased from selected suppliers in order to offer a comprehensive range for the children's room.

Where does the wood used in furniture production at LIFETIME Kidsrooms come from?

All our wood comes from selected FSC-certified forest plantations in Northern Europe. The wood is delivered from Sweden, Finland, Latvia and Lithuania. There are several reasons for this. Our suppliers are FSC-certified and all our raw wood comes from controlled forestry. This certification assures us that all our wood comes from sustainable forestry that we can be proud of.

We give back and recognise that we must do our part to take care of the climate. That's why we take our responsibility very seriously and only use wood from responsibly managed forests.

The FSC certification ensures that we always give back. For every 2 trees we use in our production, 3 new trees are planted.

The cold Nordic climate contributes to a slow growth in the structure of the wood, where the annual rings in the wood are closer together compared to pine from warmer regions. This process gives our wood a very high quality.

Product information

What material are the beds made of?

White lacquered
LIFETIME Kidsroom's white lacquered children's beds are made from solid pine wood without knots, avoiding typical discolouration. The surface is treated with a white water-based furniture lacquer, which ensures an easy-to-clean and resistant surface, while giving you the peace of mind of an environmentally conscious choice. In our white lacquered beds, we use MDF for front panels, infills, doors and drawer fronts. Due to different materials, slight colour differences may occur.

White pigmented lacquer
In our white pigmented children's beds, we use solid pine wood with knots for all parts of the bed, which enhances the furniture and the natural look of the wood. The surface of the wood is treated with water-based lacquer with added white pigments, resulting in a bright and natural look in the wood's structure.
The white pigmented lacquer leaves the surface with open pores, which can result in a slight discolouration. However, it can easily be refreshed with our white pigmentation kit.

Will a deluxe slatted base fit a bed that is manufactured to use a standard slatted base?

No, it does not. You need to order new bed sides when you want to change a slatted base from standard to deluxe - or vice versa. Our beds designed to fit a standard slatted base have bedsides with the standard slats screwed in. Beds made for a deluxe slatted base have bedsides with metal brackets that support the deluxe slatted base.

How high should a mattress be on a LIFETIME Kidsrooms bed?

On all LIFETIME Kidsrooms bunk beds, we have marked the recommended height for mattresses according to the European safety standards for the production of children's furniture.

The marking indicates that the mattress should not be higher than the instructions. The maximum mattress height is indicated on the bed legs of the bunk bed. All mattresses fit in the beds and comply with European safety standards. We recommend that no mattress exceeds a height of 16 cm.

How much weight can a bed support - and can an adult sleep in it?

For beds with a standard slatted base, we recommend a maximum weight of 150kg. For beds with a deluxe slatted base, we recommend that the maximum weight does not exceed 200kg.

How old should children be before they can use LIFETIME Kidsrooms products and furniture?

We leave it up to the individual parent to decide when their child is old enough to use LIFETIME Kidsrooms children's furniture.

We have chosen to produce our beds in accordance with the European safety standard EN 747, which requires us to specify a recommended minimum age of 6 years for beds with a mattress level of more than 80 cm from the floor. But with our 4-in-1 bed, where the mattress is at floor level, even 2 year olds can sleep in our beds.

In standard beds, it is possible to increase safety by adding an extra high bed rail. The bed rail is mounted on the bed's existing bed sides.

Do all the parts fit together and can I rebuild the furniture exactly as I want?

All LIFETIME Kidsrooms beds are made to be assembled together. We have developed a modular system that allows you to change the bed without buying a whole new bed. You simply add a bed rail, drawers, guest beds or stairs and rise when the time is right.

Our furniture was always intended to last throughout childhood. The idea is that - over time - you can find out what your child's needs are. Whether it's more storage space or more sleeping space, the option of remodelling the furniture is always there.

If you start with a basic bed, the fundamentals are in place. From there, the possibilities are endless. Convert the bed in an infinite number of ways as your child's needs change.

How can I wash my mattress cover?

All our mattress covers can be washed for the benefit of health and cleanliness when children sleep and play in bed. The cover should be washed according to the instructions for best results after washing and air-drying. For best results, place the cover on the mattress before it is 100% dry. This way it will slide on more easily and adjust to the mattress.

Sustainability & health

Do you use environmentally and health-friendly lacquer in your furniture?

All our coatings for sealing pine wood are water-based. Water-based coatings are suitable for the sanded and untreated wood surfaces and are tested according to the European Standard EN 73.

Water-based coatings are environmentally and health-friendly. It's important to us that you can feel confident that your children are comfortable in a piece of furniture from LIFETIME Kidsrooms. That's why we always use environmentally and health-friendly lacquer for surface treatment.

The surface treatment we use at LIFETIME Kidsrooms is therefore not harmful to children or the environment. At the same time, the coating is not harmful when applied, which contributes to a healthy working environment at our Danish factory.

We don't compromise on quality, health or the environment. Our coatings effectively seal the wood surface, while our treatments do not harm the environment, indoor climate or health.

Does LIFETIME Kidsrooms produce responsibly and sustainably?

All of the electricity we use at our factory and office site in Højer comes from 100 per cent wind turbine energy. With certificates from European wind turbines, we achieve CO2-neutral electricity consumption and support the transition to renewable energy.

Our entire factory and office area is heated by residual material from furniture production. We only use surplus wood to heat our headquarters in Højer. It is important to us that nothing is wasted in production.
