Exploring LIFETIME with Sixtine
Sixtine is a mom (30) of two boys, 2 and 4 years old, and a teacher to first graders in a school in Belgium. Surrounded by children daily, and by her boys at home, she has a lot of wild moments and knows how important it is to find a calm moment in between the turbulence.
Meeting LIFETIME for the first time
“3 years ago, we went to a local shop De Boomhut, looking for some inspiration for the kidsroom, and shopping for some new clothes, not really looking for any furniture. That was when I saw the LIFETIME Lake House bed and totally fell in love,” explains Sixtine who was then considering getting this bed for her older son, who had a jungle themed room. Sixtine designed her children's rooms based on their birth cards and felt the bed was not suiting the theme at that point, so the idea of a LIFETIME bed slipped her mind again.
Together with her partner, Sixtine found a new home which changed their space situation. “I remembered that LIFETIME Lake House bed I loved and when I Googled this bed I found LIFETIME again and I saw the My Hangout Low bunkbed – which was just perfect for us.” Sixtine learned that she was able to separate the two beds that the bunk bed is made of at a later point and so the bed combination really made sense to her. “It’s not the cheapest, but by being able to separate the beds later it changes the math. Otherwise, you would need to get two entire new beds later, and now we can keep the same furniture, but rebuild instead.”
A stable destination in the kidsroom
Sixtine has experience with other children’s furniture and was simply impressed by the steadiness of LIFETIME beds. “You can feel the quality, which brings us to a different way of using it. Our previous kids furniture was more shaky, but the LIFETIME bed is really stable and the staircase is a very solid solution. The advantage is that my son can climb on it independently and I as a mom have a great feeling of security.” Sixtine really appreciates that the bed is produced under controlled conditions in Denmark and as she assembled it together with her partner she has great confidence in the safety of it.
A bed that sparks creativity and invites to calmness
For the little family the bed contributes in many ways. “For a lot of people a bed is a bed, but when you get a child to use their creativity, it’s much more than that: this hut bed is a place for a puppet show, a place to read and sleep and they develop a lot of new games from playing with the bed”. Sixtine experiences it as a safe space, a place to play by rules, and it supports their parenting. “When I want my boys to calm down, I let them play in their bed. We have the rule that we play calmly in the bed, that way the bed is our designated place to calm down and surrender the wild games”.
As a teacher Sixtine is always looking to make sure that her children learn what is important to their age and she believes that children learn best by themselves. “I initially play with them and show them how to play fun and quiet games, and then they make their own version of it”. Every time the hut bed windows open, she knows, there will be a new puppet show, and she enjoys how her kids come up with many new ideas, while she can fold some laundry and combine time with her kids with practical tasks.
The benefits of a My Hangout bunkbed combination
The little family appreciates the features of their bed. “We love that the bed is a tiny house and offers a great play space, but it is extremely practical to have a floor bed because it can be used for very young children, and the boys want to sleep together”. This bed combination overcomes the age gap and offers safe sleeping, based on the needs of each child but also offers them as parents to join their kids for stories or to sleep close to their kids when needed. Furthermore, it eases Sixtine’s day by not having to lift the children out of bed every morning and frees up a little extra time to get ready in the morning. “We use the staircase as extra storage for our bedding, but whenever I look into the boxes, I will always find something more as the kids always play with it and hide their stuff in there.” But the bookcase on the side of the staircase is the perfect place to keep the books close and ready for night-time stories.
