LIFETIME Kidsrooms is the brand of our Danish family business, M. Schack Engel A/S, which was established in 1972, with a production history dating back to 1924. With the 4th generation involved in the family business, we understand the importance of healthy and happy children who can carry on our legacy.
We are proud of our products
50 years of experience in manufacturing furniture for children allows us to proudly look back at our history and a well-developed product range. We offer a 5-year guarantee for manufacturing faults on all our bed constructions. It is our purpose to produce premium furniture for children, where quality, safety, creativity and sustainability are the main ingredients.
We think sustainable
Our production in Denmark underlies strict safety rules regarding employees and the environment. However, we want to do more. Therefore, we purchase electricity from windmills, heat our facilities with leftover materials and contribute to a circular economy by sorting our waste. We keep challenging ourselves to protect what we have.
We care about our world
Our wooden materials come from responsibly managed forests in Northern Europe. Here, the trees grow more slowly, which secures a harder and premium quality material. The finishes of our products are water-based and not harmful, neither to children nor to the environment.
We ensure safety
With our expertise, we offer a product that is safe to use. Our bed construction is tested by TÜV Germany and complies with all requirements of DINEN 747-1:2024. We continuously develop our safety features so that we can ensure a safe product for all future generations.

The LIFETIME Kidsrooms collection has a variety of exciting beds, from the adventure bed to a four-poster bed, practical cabin beds and clever high beds, that redefine storage and space. Our different mattresses and slats are here to cater to the individual needs, to altogether ensure sweet dreams in a bed that makes dreams come true!
Our 15.000 m2 production facility and office are remotely placed in the countryside of Southwest Jutland. Our down to earth mentality is driven by the beautiful environment that surrounds us. It reminds us daily just how important it is, to preserve what we have for ourselves and future generations. Therefore, we challenge ourselves to find the most sustainable solutions.
The company behind the brand
M. Schack Engel A/S
Although the existence of our company can be traced back to 1837, it was in 1972 that the family business started with producing furniture, focusing on children. Therefore, our LIFETIME brand celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022.
Under the lead of Martin Schack Engel bunkbeds and other furniture items were produced, mainly from pine wood, and the first collection RUNE was established.
The increasing demand for children’s furniture shifted the company's focus and a new furniture collection called CLASSIC was designed. The bed system was using wooden wedges to join elements together and was promoting the concept of a basic bed and modular furniture.
Martin’s sons, John and Lars joined the family business as the 3rd generation. John became responsible for sales and distribution, whereas Lars was responsible for the production.
Both sons inherited the company from their father and continued his legacy with another collection called COMPACT and later ORIGINAL. LIFETIME became the new brand of the family business. In the following years the product range was extended, and bed linen, other accessories and colourful bed fronts were added to the product range.
The idea, to create outdoor spaces for indoor children’s rooms, was the basic concept of the first hut bed TREE HOUSE. The hut bed became a bestseller and therefore the foundation of other hut bed creations. Whitewash and white beds took over and became most popular.
Long-term employee Keld Nielsen joined as a new co-owner and director and the production and distribution units were merged and run under the name M. Schack Engel A/S. Shortly after Lars Engel retired.
Henrik, son of John Engel, joined the family business as the first child of the 4th generation. The LIFETIME collection continuously developed to create a “hyggelig” (cosy) space inside the children’s room.
A new product range called COOL KIDS was designed to provide an alternative concept that builds on a simple line, with less modularity. However, the LIFETIME ORIGINAL concept continued growing due to the high demand for our brand with exciting theme beds.
We are proudly celebrating 50 years of LIFETIME, which has been a journey of continuous learning, developing and rethinking, with the mission to fulfil dreams. Our journey started with individual furniture items and continues with an entire universe of modular furniture and accessories to create cosy and exciting childhood memories.
